Acid Reflux or Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is a digestive disorder that occurs when acidic stomach juices, or food and fluids back up from the stomach into the esophagus. GERD affects people of all ages—from infants to older adults. The main symptoms are persistent heartburn and acid regurgitation. Some people have Acid Reflux without heartburn. Instead, they experience pain in the chest, hoarseness in the morning or trouble swallowing. You may feel like you have food stuck in your throat, or like you are choking or your throat is tight.
Symptoms
Common anxiety signs and symptoms include:
- Acid regurgitation (re-tasting your food after eating)
- Difficulty or pain when swallowing
- Sudden excess of saliva
- Chronic sore throat
- Laryngitis or hoarseness
- Inflammation of the gums
- Cavities
- Bad breath
- Chest pain (seek immediate medical help)
